A life coach is a type of wellness practitioner who helps people make progress in their lives in order to attain greater fulfillment. Life coaches aid their clients in improving their relationships, careers, and day-to-day lives. Life coaches help clients clarify their goals, identify the obstacles holding them back, and develop strategies to overcome each obstacle. In creating these strategies, life coaches target the client’s unique personality traits, skills and gifts. By helping clients make the most of their strengths, life coaches provide the support clients need to achieve long- lasting change. Clients seek out life coaches for direction in navigating a significant life change and for assistance in building a happier, more meaningful existence.
Life coaching is not therapy, and life coaches are not therapists. Life coaches are not licensed by the State of California or any licensing body to provide mental health treatment. A life coach is not licensed to diagnose or treat mental health conditions of any kind, including those covered in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition (“DSM-5”).
While working with a life coach can help clients address unresolved issues, life coaches do NOT focus on or treat mental illnesses or mental health conditions. Life coaching is a means to bridge the gap between a client’s current circumstances. Life coaching also allows clients to realize their highest potential and life satisfaction.
Clients often work with life coaches to deal with barriers which impede a satisfying dynamic with partners/mates and family members. Life coaching offers clients seeking improved relationships the tools and techniques to enhance communication skills, empathy, conflict resolution, and trust building.
Accountability is an integral and primary aspect of working with a life coach and that’s why clients are often drawn to a coaching/client relationship.
The following are Coach’s responsibilities to Client under this contract: (a) Create a safe, reliable, and trusted environment for personal development; (b) Apply Coach’s expertise to provide Client with helpful tools and life skills so Client can effectively navigate relational dynamics and life stressors; and, (c) Keep Client accountable to the coaching process, including holding Client to agreements in being proactive and responsible for their appointments, to work within the coaching process, and maintaining a timely pace by establishing and keeping scheduled appointments within a reasonable and agreed upon timeframe.

5. FEE SERVICE PLANS. Coach is able to offer three fee and appointment structures to Client. Depending on the Plan, Client may or may not also have a standing appointment under this agreement. A standing appointment is a specified day and time Client has committed to meeting with Coach. (Coach’s appointment cancellation policy is discussed in paragraph 7 below.)
a. Pay Per Visit. Under the Pay Per Visit Service Plan, Client pays Coach an hourly fee of $175.00 per session. Under this structure, Client is not obligated to see Coach for a certain quantity of coaching sessions. Client and/or Coach can cancel the sessions at any time. However, under this option, Client will pay Coach’s full hourly fee of $175.00, and Client is subject to future fee increases. Coach does not offer a “sliding scale” fee arrangement. Client can receive a per-session discount if Client selects a Bundled Plan. Under specific extenuating circumstances, and at Coach’s discretion, Coach may elect to offer a client a reduced fee. Pay Per Visit Clients may or may not have a standing appointment.
b. Bundled Service Plans. Under a Bundled Service Plan, Client advances Coach a set fee for a specified number of sessions. In exchange, Client receives a 20% discount on each session in the Bundle. Each Bundle has expiration date. All sessions must be used before or by the expiration date, as indicated in paragraph 6 below. Upon the expiration date, Coach will not refund Client for any unused sessions. Additionally, the unused sessions will not be applied toward a subsequent contract. Bundles are non-transferrable to another party, including family members unless authorized by Coach.
Once Client has used all sessions in a Bundle, or the Bundle reaches the expiration date, whichever occurs first, the contract will terminate. In order for Client to continue receiving coaching services, Client must enter into a new Client Services Contract with Coach. Client may select from one of the three plans listed in this section. If Client selects another Bundled Service Plan or a Retainer Agreement, Coach will resume providing Client with coaching services only when Coach receives a new signed Client Services Agreement and the associated fee for the selected plan. The new Client Services Agreement must be signed and the fee paid in advance of Client’s first appointment under the new agreement.
Client will choose one of the following Bundles. After the completion of all sessions covered under the Bundle – or, at the expiration date of the Bundle, whichever occurs first – Client can continue receiving Coach’s services only by entering into a new

Coach will be available to Client via an on-demand basis within reasonable business hours. If Coach provides services during business hours the session will be offered as in person, or via telephone or Zoom video- conferencing. If the session is after business hours, Coach will provide services via telephone. If Client chooses a Retainer Agreement Plan, Coach will draw up a separate agreement.
